Silvermist visit April 2008

I flew to Johannesburg to meet Margie with whom I would drive to Silvermist. Unfortunately Margie took ill so Kate drove from Polokwane to fetch me from the Johannesburg airport. A 7 hour drive !!!!

I was delighted to see this driveway on the farm.

I stayed in this charming cottage on the farm.

I was delighted to visit Peter D’Arcy-Hermann.

Amy and Zoe went to a friend who made their flower girl dresses for Philippa and Mike’s wedding.

Zoe played with make-believe rabbits while Amy worked on the new ABC puzzle.

We went to Johannesburg. The first night Zoe and Amy met their new cousin Edward.

While I was staying with Jennifer, we took Alister and Zoe to the Zoo to find a polar bear. It was a lovely outing to see the improved zoo. The children managed the walking so well.

2008April Cherio Gardens, Haenertsburg

Last week Kate, Amy, Zoe and I enjoyed walking in Cherio Gardens which is a farm in a valley that is filled with wonderful variety of trees, azaleas, ferns and moss.

There are small dams on the stream and several wooden bridges to walk across to the other side of the valley.

The sandy, rock and brick paths wander under the trees. We found a secluded dell where there was a braai and table and benches. In another spot huge pines were lying on the ground in 8 meter square. This made a wonderful space in which Amy and Zoe could climb and scramble.

There were not many flowers but in Spring there is an abundance of different colour azaleas and hydrangas.

We so enjoyed walking that we were late getting to the Tea Room overlooking the biggest dam. So all the cream scones were finished.

Amy was disappointed but the day was saved with icecreams.
